I’m in two minds whether this story should go on my personal blog or here on ProBlogger. The lessons are about life but in the second half this post I tie them to blogging. For the past year, John Chow dot Com has used Vimeo as its default for embedded video. The main reason for doing this is Vimeo allows HD embedding while the other video services does not. I’m starting to see comments that say the Vimeo service runs very slow for some readers and they’ve asked me to switch to YouTube. I should note that all my videos are available on YouTube, I just choose to embed Vimeo on the blog because it’s in HD 720p by default. However, YouTube recently allowed viewers the ability to choose their resolution on videos embedded on a web page. The default is 320p but you can easily change it to 480p or 720p if the video was filmed in those resolutions.

Apple and Google relationship is getting sour. In recent news, Apple is discussing ways to make Bing the default search engine on the iPhone. Currently, the default search engine for iPhone is Google.

dofollow nodofollow NoDoFollow extension for FireFox 3.6Looking for the latest NoDoFollow extension for FireFox 3.6? I know I am. The previous NoDoFollow 1.1 only works on FireFox 3.5 and it is not compatible with FireFox 3.6. Apparently, only about 75% of older version of extensions and plugins work on FireFox 3.6. You have to sit tight until the remaining 25% of extensions and plugins are updated or patched. Or if you want to avoid the hassle, just stick to FireFox 3.5 until the dust settled (maybe up to middle of 2010).

The “Qatif sorcerer” from Saudi Arabia was originally sentenced to 10 years in prison and 1000 lashes for sexually abusing women, but after more victims came forth the sentence was changed to execution, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported on Wednesday. The Saudi man reported to have raped more than 100 women after posing as a spell-caster to lure them into his clutches. The Saudi man terrified women around the eastern city of Qatif for several years.
